Pastoral Care

What we provide
The Pastoral Team offers a variety of services within its ministry and they include:

In the Pastoral Team we see our purpose as ensuring the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being of all those within the Well Street United Church family and beyond.

We don’t just see our caring as exclusive to churchgoers.
We aim to reach right into the community in which we live. We are there to help those who desperately need support, encouragement and practical help to find a better quality of life through what we can offer them. Hopefully as a result they will discover the power of God in their lives.

We have links with the services provided via the Red Cross, Age Concern, local surgeries, the Well Street Centre, Social Services etc. and these, together with what we already offer, are helping us to establish a firm foundation for our work within Well Street United Church and to progress our care for the wider community.

Pastoral Work
At Well Street United Church we have a Pastoral Team which is overseen by Pastoral Co-ordinators, namely Ros Hutt, Sarah Shipp, Delia Frigaard and Jill Townsend. Steve Fisher, our Minister, attends our meetings along with Ian Thornton from the Leadership Team, who is there as a communication link between the Elders and the Pastoral Team.

Once you start coming to Well Street United Church, your Pastoral Link will make him or herself known to you. Alongside your name in the Church Directory you will find the relevant Pastoral Link and their phone number is on the inside cover, should you wish to contact them.

The Pastoral team works alongside, and is supported by, many other teams such as prayer, children’s, youth, and mission. Together we can work towards our vision for Well Street United Church.

History
When the Pastoral Team was first set up, Buckingham and the surrounding villages were split into a number of geographical areas, and a Pastoral Link was appointed to each of these. That link person is responsible for keeping an eye on the people in his/her grouping and identifying any needs that might arise, from a visit from the Minister to someone to mend the front gate. Pastoral Links encourage those in their area to contact them should there be anything for which they would like help, support or prayer.
We would welcome any help you can offer in any of these areas. If you feel you are unable to offer practical support, you could be equally effective supporting us through your prayers as a designated pastoral prayer person.

We’d love to have you on board. Make a difference to people’s lives and work with us to achieve the Well Street vision - we’re here to serve God through serving others.
