Steeple Claydon

Steeple Claydon Chapel,

West Street, Steeple Claydon

MK18 2NS

The Chapel is one of the last few buildings on the right hand side as you leave the village along West Street. (The opposite end of the village from the Church, which stands on higher ground on the eastern edge of the village.)
The central part of the present building was erected in 1862, although
it is known that Methodists were meeting in a  local property at least as early as 1830.  The chapel has a modern sanctuary, schoolroom, 2 kitchens and toilets.

Sunday worship takes place at 6.00pm in the summer months and 3.00pm in the winter months.

There are a number of other events that take place on a regular basis:

Forget me knots
Forget me knots – 1st Tuesday   2.00pm - 4pm. This is a group to provide friendship while playing games or doing craft. Popular games include Scrabble and Mexican Train Dominos. Anyone can come along, with their own work or use materials provided.  Alternatively people can join in for the company and the refreshments.
Bible Study Group
Bible Study Group – 2nd Tuesday, 2.00-4.00pm.  A study group led by our Lay Pastoral worker looking at different themes in the Bible.
Open to all.
Friendship lunch
Friendship lunch – 3rd Monday, 12.30pm.  This is a very popular event so it is important to book in advance.  This is a light two course lunch (with 2 options for each course)
Coffee Mornings
The chapel runs a very busy coffee morning three times a year.  These usually take place on the first Saturday of the school half terms.
Cream teas
The chapel serves cream teas at special events such as Harvest and Church Anniversary
Ecumenical work
There is a thriving ‘Churches Together in the Claydons’ group.  This brings together the Christians living in Steeple Claydon and the surrounding Claydons.  They meet regularly and organise outreach events and prayer walks in the community.
